The first thing that you need to do is the research in order to find the perfect destination and itineraries. You would be surprised to know that you have so many options that you can consider.
You need to think of how you will reach the port. If you live in a landlocked country or city, you will have to book your own flight. Make sure that you get as early as possible on the embarkation day because you don’t want to miss the trip because of a delayed flight.
If your flight is delayed let the airline know about your cruise schedule and they will surely accommodate. Also make sure that you are in touch with the crew on the cruise.
Make sure that you all the documents with you before you leave that include the passport and the visas for the countries that you will be visiting.
What to Carry
The ship gets thousands of bags in one day, so your bag will reach you in a few hours. Have a hand carry and have all the things that you will need until dinner time that may include the following things:
- A change of clothes and toiletries
- Bathing suits
- Diapers and wipes if you have children
- ID and documentation
Cruise lines have different dress codes, so make sure that you have a look at the travel documents because generally the code is mentioned according to the theme. It is recommended that you carry two to three formal dresses for fancy dinners. In addition to this, keep the casual clothes like jeans and flip flops for the day.
If you plan on playing sports, it is recommended that you ask beforehand about rental availability. If you are traveling with young children, you need to carry the diapers and baby food yourself.
Explore the Ship
You can explore the ship on the first day and get on with the spa and restaurant reservations. You will also need to attend the safety drills. In the drill you will be prepared to put life jackets and the attendance is mandatory.
